ill title

Gardner Funeral Home and Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel have been family-owned and operated since their establishment in the early 1900's. The Krentz family has operated Gardner Funeral Home since 1996 and became owners in February 2010, and purchased Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel, formerly Erdman Funeral Home, in December 2006.

Derek Krentz is a licensed funeral director and embalmer with a degree in Mortuary Science. Funeral service is Derek's second career. Prior to becoming an undertaker, he worked in his family's construction business. Derek's laid back and open personality puts people at ease. He is a good listener and communicator, which serves him well when dealing with grieving families. Derek has a tender heart and always tries to do his very best for those he serves. When not at the funeral home, Derek enjoys bass fishing and spending time with wife, Domonique, and three children, Austin, Margaux and Francesca.

Domonique Krentz grew up in a funeral home. Her parents, grandparents and great grandparents were all funeral directors in Washington and Oregon. She is a licensed apprentice funeral director. Domonique takes care of the technical details of the business, such as death certificates, permits, memorial folders and tribute videos. In her free time, she likes to hang out with her family, take walks and paint—walls, not pictures.

Steve Gussick is a licensed apprentice funeral director and embalmer and is Derek's and Domonique's best friend. He is an invaluable asset to Gardner Funeral Home and Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel. Steve works closely with Derek and Domonique in all areas of the business. His sense of humor and easy-going ways make him enjoyable to be around. When he's not working at the funeral homes, Steve tends to his own business as a stone mason, plays golf and spends time with his wife and two children.

Keren Dierickx helps with services and office work, as well as meet with families for funeral arrangements, her main responsibility at Gardner Funeral Home and Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel is accommodating those people who wish to pre-arrange their funerals. She often meets with families in their homes when they can't come to the office.

Rudy Dierickx is officially retired. However, he likes to keep himself busy and it helps Derek, Domonique and Keren if he's around to do the little things, such as run errands and make repairs to the facility. He is also the chief operator of their own crematory, which they have on site.

His career in funeral service has been very rewarding and Rudy and his wife, Keren, are happy to be passing the tradition of family funeral care on to their children.

Nena and Chloe are the angels of the office. Nena is a yellow lab mix who quietly greets people and sits with families during the arrangement process.

Chloe is a Shih Tzu-Poodle mix who thinks she rules the universe. An empath, Chloe seems to instinctively know when people need comfort and seeks them out.
